Welcome to Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft - German-African Business Association

The Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft - German-African Business Association - represents more than 600 German companies with business interests in Africa.  These include the leading multinationals and a large number of smaller and medium-sized companies.

The Afrika-Verein is a well-established and respected institution (it celebrated its 75th anniversary this year)  with an unparalleled network of contacts in government, business and institutions in Germany with an interest in Africa.

The Afrika-Verein has offices in Hamburg and Berlin and a network of regional chapters throughout Germany, where members meet regularly.

The Afrika-Verein hosts more than 50 Africa-related events in Germany each year.  It arranges sector conferences (e.g. the German-African Energy Forum, www.energyafrica.de), bilateral conferences (e.g. the German-South African Business Forum, www.dsawf.de) and visits to African states.

The Afrika-Verein distributes a fortnightly electronic newsletter, the Afrika-Brief and publishes a bi-monthly magazine, the Afrika-Wirtschaft (www.afrika-wirtschaft.de).

The Afrika-Verein is one of the key institutions in the Southern African

Initiative of German Business, SAFRI (www.safri.de).  The other partners in the initiative are the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and

Industry (DIHK) and the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI).

The Afrika-Verein hosts two networking websites, namely www.business-africa.com and the African Business Contact (ABC) Platform (www.africa-contact.com).

The Afrika-Verein´s commercial activities are undertaken by the Afrika-Verein Business Development GmbH (AVBD).  GATE Consult is the unit within the AVBD that provides services in Germany to African companies.
