Status quo – potentials - challenges

After the fall of former President Bashir in April 2019 and the formation of a civilian-led transitional government, initial progress was made in the Sudanese democratic transition process. End 2021 General Burhan took power and the initiated reform course to overcome the economic crisis and to reduce debt was stopped. In recent months, several civil society initiatives have been launched to break the political deadlock in the country. The current political situation in Sudan leads to a challenging economic environment for international business activities although the country offers numerous business opportunities e.g. in agribusiness, energy and infrastructure.

Khalid Ali, Executive Officer at the EU Chamber of Commerce Sudan (ECCS) will present the political status quo and will share insights into the current business environment in Sudan. After his short presentation, we would be happy to exchange with you and discuss your activities and your individual challenges in the Sudanese market: Are there any topics that we can also address for you as part of our political representation of interests to political decision-makers? How can Afrika-Verein support your business in Sudan?
