Egypt maintains the largest economy in North Africa. In Africa it keeps its position within the group of TOP 3 economies in 2020 as well. The country’s vision 2030 aims to create and grow a diversified and competitive economy within the framework of a sustainable development. Renewable Energies play a substantial role in achieving this goal. A combined scenario of renewables and hydrogen is currently being formulated by the government.

Within this information seminar Dr Hafez El-Salmawy, Former Executive Chairman of the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency, presents the Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy to 2035 and the role of hydrogen in Egypt’s future energy mix.
In addition, we will highlight current German engagement in Egypt’s renewables sector and future business opportunities in this field.
