Ethiopian economic growth has been stable and constant in recent years and despite the Covid-19 pandemic, comparatively high growth of around six percent was achieved in 2020. Due to the ongoing pandemic and domestic political tension, growth is expected to decline to around two percent in 2021. The gross domestic product (GDP) was estimated at $ 96.6 billion in 2020. Nonetheless, German companies should currently pay more attention to Ethiopia. The Ethiopian market is huge and largely untapped. Despite the challenges, the country is in a very dynamic process that most other countries on the African continent cannot keep up with. Ethiopia is described as Africa's new growth engine.
